Biography
Melissa R. Chernofsky has over 20 years of litigation experience, most recently as Deputy General Counsel of IDB Bank, where she served as Head of Litigation, Labor and Employment, and Internal Investigations for the Bank and its broker-dealer subsidiary. She has represented clients in state and federal court litigation, bankruptcy court, EEOC proceedings, and FINRA, AAA, and JAMS arbitration and mediation on a variety of commercial, securities, and employment matters.
Melissa has deep knowledge and experience in labor and employment law, including ADA workplace accommodations, hiring and separation, restrictive covenants, discrimination and employment practice concerns, reductions in force, and best practices for performance management. She also has substantial experience providing confidential internal employee mediation.
Melissa has led numerous sensitive internal investigations across subject matter, including fraud, whistleblower, employee relations, operational risk, and ethics and compliance. As a commercial litigator, her practice includes banking and financial services, bankruptcy, broker-dealer, and all variety of business disputes.
